Graciously opening the doors to her newly renovated studio, Judith Kohin invites anyone who is interested to schedule a tour to see where and how the magic happens.
Judith’s demanding process begins with screen printing with vibrant textile dyes on cotton fabric. The printed material is then cut, glued and collaged to wooden cradle boards, creating imagery that is further enhanced with encaustic wax. The final layer is a series of surface techniques that include carving into the wax, and adding oil paint, pastel, drawing and other media to finish. The work is then carefully framed by the artist with thin gauge steel.
