As a long-time resident of Telluride, Colorado and Taos, New Mexico, Kathryn's interests are rooted in her relationship with mountains and expressed thru her contemporary mountain paintings, featuring some of the worlds' highest peaks including the magnificent mountains in Telluride. Her technique, which she calls East meets West, is a fusion of ancient Asian materials and philosophies with modern western paints and applications.  Each painting starts as a Sumi Ink drawing on rice paper, then is mounted to canvas and finished with acrylic paints and interference metallic colors to capture the sacred winter light found above tree line.  These high elevation paintings are multidimensional and light reflective.

Kathryn's paintings have been featured as the Poster Art for the Telluride Jazz Festival, and are in personal and corporate collections in the US and Europe. Her paintings have been on display at The Taos Art Museum at Fechin House, Taos, New Mexico.  In 2021, she was awarded a silver star at The Taos Select - Fall Arts Festival and in 2022 her painting was awarded BEST OF SHOW ribbon in the painting category at The Taos Select - Fall Arts Festival.  Recently she has been invited by the President of the Florence, Italy, Biennale to exhibit in the XIV Florence Biennale, October 14-22, 2023. She also was invited to contribute a painting to the Charles M Russell Museum in their Annual Auction, June 2023, in Great Falls, Montana.
